Sean Jennings set up Pain Cafes across South West England, having suffered for the last 35 years with chronic pain himself. We host the Saltash Pain Cafés together. As a Movement Director, my key role is guiding people through a 30-minute practical session to help them cope with their pain.
The session consists of:-
This helps to bring the spotlight away from the pain, which can lessen the intensity of the experience. We listen to people who have chronic pain and signpost them to resources and services that may be helpful to them.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Over the last few years, I have suffered, and continue to suffer with chronic back pain. Attending a Pain Management Course at Plymouth Marjon University helped me learn how to manage my pain. This helps me to continue to work as a Yoga Teacher, and informs changes I need to make to my practice so that I can still enjoy yoga for myself and teaching it to others.
Come along if you are a pain sufferer or recommend it to someone you know who is in pain.
