There are TEN Pain Cafés, set up by Sean Jennings and Julie Widdecombe at various venues across Plymouth. These help people cope with their experience of pain. Pain Cafés are FREE and people can drop in during their two hour duration or stay the whole time.
One of my key roles as Movement Director is to guide people through a group session to help them cope with their pain.

This helps to bring the spotlight away from the pain, which can lessen the intensity of their experience.
My other roles are to listen to people who have chronic pain and signpost them to resources and services that may be able to them.
Over the last few years, I have suffered with chronic back pain.
Attending a Pain Management Course at Plymouth Marjon University helped me learn how to manage my pain. My personal experience of pain allows me to understand others' experiences and offer a listening ear, as well as guidance.
